A Continental tyre policy delivers for JMB Travel

JMB Travel of Newmains has adopted a policy of using only Continental tyres on its bus fleet after impressive trial results.

In 2016 the operator took delivery of some new Alexander Dennis Enviro200s. It decided to run head-to-head trials between existing tyres and Continental products.

Says Director Martin Bell: “To make sure we gave both brands a fair outing, we ran them for a year.

“At the end of that time, we had results that were unquestionable. The Continental tyres had delivered significant improvements – some 30,000 more miles without a change than the other brand on test over that period – as well as delivering excellent performance in terms of damage resistance.

“Add the fact that we no longer need to worry about different drive and steer axle tyres, the Conti Urban HA3 doing both jobs well, and it’s easy to see why our decision was an easy one.”

The Conti Urban HA3 has a dedicated urban tread compound and a 20% increase in sidewall thickness. It gives a claimed 20% increase in mileage and reduces fuel consumption by 2% when compared to its forerunner.
