Reading buses says it will continue its weekly applause of NHS and care workers as long as the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic continues, as well as remind people to remain indoors and only make essential journeys.
Last week the company displayed messages of support on the front of its buses, and members of staff turned out to take part in the weekly ‘clap for our carers’ event.
Staff from Thames Valley Ambulance Service, which has a site opposite Reading Buses’ depot on Great Knollys street, also joined the event.
Chief Executive Officer of Reading Buses Robert Williams says: “We felt it was really important to be a part of these celebrations of our fantastic NHS and care staff.
“No motivation was needed for our own key workers who jumped at the chance to take part. We hope to do different things each week to show our appreciation of the NHS and other care workers.”
