Jane Newman has retired from her role as Director of Farnham Coaches. Her almost 28 years of service to the business was marked by a surprise function attended by family members and current and past employees of the operator, which is owned by Guildford-based Safeguard Coaches. Jane was also invited to unveil a plaque on a recently delivered Plaxton Panther that marks her contribution.

Since joining the Surrey operator in February 1994, Jane has undertaken many roles. They include a heavy involvement in the commercial aspects of the business and others in operations, human resources and payroll, along with “anything else that nobody else either could or wanted to do,” the operator says.

Safeguard Coaches Managing Director Andrew Halliday has thanked Jane for her support and wished her a happy, healthy and long retirement. In view of her versatile position within the company, he suggests that “in many ways, she is and will remain Mrs Farnham Coaches.”

Many of Jane’s responsibilities have passed to James Vallance, who joined Safeguard Coaches as Commercial Manager earlier in 2021. She will, however, retain her responsibilities as a Director of Safeguard.
