High-capacity coaches are currently prominent for BASE Coach Sales, although the dealer in Beulas and MOBIpeople products reports ongoing strong demand for standard touring and private hire models.

From Beulas, three examples of the Glory overdecker (pictured, left) are currently on order, including two in sports team specification for the same customer. Conclusion of a further deal for the Glory in that application was expected during Euro Bus Expo.

Another longstanding customer of BASE has a pair of Jewel double-deckers on order. All those Beulas coaches will be built on Scania chassis.

For team coach products, some of the necessary additional fittings are installed in Spain by Beulas, but BASE Coach Sales General Manager Nick Dodgson adds that AD Coach Systems staff have visited the factory in readiness for doing more work to the Glorys after they arrive in the UK.

In the MOBIpeople stable, the low-height Explorer in 74-seat format on two axles continues to do well.

The dealer believes that over recent years, some operators have adjusted the work they do and now require higher capacities than before. The Explorer excels in the carriage of children while the Jewel pair on order are for an operator that currently does not run any double-deck coaches.

Mr Dodgson adds that a strong pipeline of orders is in hand across MOBIpeople products, including in 53- or 57-seat format. The Beulas Cygnus in that field also continues to deliver regular numbers, while several MOBIpeople Midi Explorers (pictured, right), built on the MAN TGL front-engined chassis, are on order.
