Delaine Buses of Bourne was among the first operators to place a 25-plate vehicle into service when it debuted an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 on 1 March. It is the third such bus for the family-owned business since September 2023.
Its arrival also takes to nine the number of vehicles from Alexander Dennis delivered to the Lincolnshire operator since September 2020, with the three double-deckers following six Enviro200 single-deckers. A fourth Enviro400 is on order.
The latest bus is 10.5m in length with the City body style. It carries the longstanding Delaine livery along with discreet route branding between window lines and customary cherished registration mark. Inside are 77 seats finished in a bespoke red tartan moquette and wood veneer panelling.
Managing Director Anthony Delaine-Smith says that existing Enviro200 and Enviro400 deliveries “have proven to be a great choice for us, allowing us to standardise on modern vehicles that we can customise to meet our fleet requirements.”
He continues: “They are dependable, easy to maintain and operate, and popular with our drivers and customers.”
Adds Alexander Dennis Regional Sales Manager Martin Dunleavy: “It is an honour to be chosen to supply buses to one of the most recognisable independent operators in the country, and to tailor them to respect and continue the Delaine heritage.
“We highly value and appreciate the business and look forward to continuing to work with Anthony and the Delaine-Smith family.”
