Leeds City Council takes delivery of 10 Mellor Orions

Mellor Orion Leeds Delivery

Leeds City Council has taken delivery of 10 accessible Class B Orions from Mellor.

The vehicles are 16-seater Orion minibuses and will be deployed across the Leeds City Council region providing school and adult services.

They join a fleet of 20 Mellor vehicles already in service with the local authority and further strengthen the manufacturer’s relationship with the council.

The low-floor design allows easy passenger access and each Orion is fitted with near side and rear ramps to help passenger with reduced mobility, while the “size-appropriate” design makes the vehicle efficient and manoeuvrable around town, according to the manufacturer.

Phoenix has provided seating and saloon climate control is supplied by Eberspacher.

“We’ve established a good rapport with Mellor through collaboration on our previous orders, which has made the process of acquiring these new vehicles simple and straightforward,” comments Lee Burton, Customer Relationship Officer at Leeds City Council. “Having had experience with the model before, we’ve been impressed by their quality and reliability.

“What’s more, we were able to get our new buses with a very reasonable lead time. That was important for us as we needed capacity to meet our service needs.”
