In a week-long trial, Xplore Dundee is running an Alexander Dennis/BYD Enviro200EV.

The vehicle is a revision of earlier models and, significantly, includes rear-view cameras instead of conventional mirrors.

Inside it is also to a much higher specification than versions being delivered to London, including “plush seating,” tables, USB ports and wireless charging with phone holders on the backs of most seats.

Xplore Dundee MD Christine McGlasson says: “We believe electric buses are the future and we were delighted to bring the first one to Dundee when we launched Service 360.

“Now we’ve got another short-term loan we will be taking a close look at what it can offer and how our customers respond to it.

The ADL Enviro200EV uses a 307kw battery to drive two 90kw hub motors. It can do 160 miles on one AC charge. The lithium-ion iron phosphate battery sits on the roof of the bus and can be fully charged in under four hours.
