Stagecoach South West (SW) has partnered with local authorities to introduce dedicated school and college transport across its network to ease the burden anticipated by the return of schools in September.
50 dedicated buses and drivers will be introduced with vehicles specially marked to differentiate them from normal service vehicles. This will ensure pupils only travel with other pupils. Routes will include Exeter, South Devon, Petroc and Bicton College.
The vehicles are being sourced from other Stagecoach routes which are running on reduced services. The arrangement has been organised at a local level with Devon County Council and Torbay Council.
Combined with greater cleaning measures and social distancing on its buses, Stagecoach says it will ensure the back to school rush is ‘safe for all’.
