Women in Bus and Coach (WiBC) has launched its Northern Region Group, a dedicated support network for women in the industry working in the North of England, with Kayleigh Ingham, Commercial Director for First Bus North and West Yorkshire (pictured), as its Chair.
The Northern Region Group will provide tailored events, regional workshops and networking opportunities designed to address the specific challenges faced by women in the North of England coach, bus and community transport sectors.
The campaign to launch dedicated regional groups was announced at the WiBC summit in Manchester in October. The idea is that regional groups will better address specific needs in those areas and provide “greater access to industry resources and support”.
“The Northern Region Group represents a fantastic opportunity for women across the North to come together, share their experiences, advocate for equality, and drive meaningful change in our industry,” says Ms Ingham. “I’m honoured to lead this group and look forward to building a supportive, inspiring community.”
Adds Louise Cheeseman, Chair of Women in Bus and Coach: “The launch of our Northern Region Group is a key milestone in our mission to provide women across the UK with the support, resources, and community they need to succeed in the coach, bus, and community transport industry.
“With the Northern Group joining our existing London Group, we’re already seeing the value of these regional networks, and we look forward to launching more in the future.”
More regional groups are expected to follow, building on WiBC’s ambition to establish a nationwide network.
