York Pullman has bought the company name, trading rights, phone number, website, ongoing booking and forward diary of Stephensons of Easingwold from its administrators.

It has not taken on any liabilities, vehicles or the site.

Stephensons had built up a business over 28 years and operated around 60 coaches on a mixture of local school contracts and bus services, until it suddenly ceased trading [routeone, News, 24 January].

York Pullman MD Tom James says: “We are pleased to have acquired the name Stephensons of Easingwold, who have previously enjoyed a good reputation in operating local private hire and school work in the York and North Yorkshire area”

The company has offered employment to around 15 members of staff who lost their jobs when Stephensons closed. A small number of school routes are being operated by York Pullman in the short term.

York Pullman is the largest family-owned coach and bus company in the York area, running 130 vehicles and employing 150 staff at sites in Rufforth, Strensall Boroughbridge, Market Weighton and Central York
