Caelloi Motors of Pwllheli added a pair of Volvo B8RLEs with MCV Evora bodywork to its fleet earlier in 2022. The 10.8m examples each seat 38 and they are being utilised seven days per week on a route between the operator’s hometown and Porthmadog.
The two newcomers represent the first new Volvo buses for Caelloi Motors, although it has previously purchased coaches from the manufacturer.
Owner Eryl Jones describes the additions as “superb,” adding that “they are very welcome additions to our fleet, and because they measure 10.8m, they are ideal for the twisty rural roads in the area, which can also be very hilly.”
Caelloi can trace its history as far back as 1851, when it was founded by Tomos Huws, and describes itself as “almost certainly Britain’s oldest established coach and bus operator.” It remains in family ownership over 170 years later.
Adds Volvo Bus UK and Ireland Regional Account Manager Phil Hudson: “With a heavy-duty chassis, the Volvo B8RLE MCV Evora is the ideal vehicle to withstand the daily rigours in challenging driving conditions.”
