Delaine Buses of Bourne has added an Enviro400 City to its fleet, supplied by Alexander Dennis. It is the first new double-decker for the family operator from that manufacturer, and complements a number of Enviro200 single-deckers supplied in recent years.
The bus is finished in Delaine’s traditional livery and entered service in early October. It also saw use during the Omnibus Society’s presidential weekend around that time, with Anthony Delaine-Smith this year’s President. There it ran alongside a member of Delaine’s heritage fleet.
Carried on the upper bodyside panels are graphics to commemorate 100 years of Delaine’s service between Bourne and Peterborough. Eight images of previous buses used on that link are displayed on each side.
The Enviro400 City has a conventional panelled staircase rather than a glazed example, allowing the offside decal to be displayed in full. As is customary with Delaine Buses, it also carries a cherished registration mark that includes the letters DBL.
