Pair of Volvo 9700s for Excelsior Coaches carry its distinctive blue livery

Excelsior Coaches, a subsidiary of Go South Coast (GSC) and based in Bournemouth, has purchased a pair of B11R-based 9700 integrals, supplied by Volvo Bus (02476 210250).

The 13m tri-axles have 53 or 55 seats and a host of passenger-friendly fittings. Power comes from the D11K engine rated at 430bhp coupled to the I-Shift gearbox.

Says GSC MD Andrew Wickham: “The first vehicle that Go South Coast ordered was a Volvo, and on the strength of what we have had before, purchasing the 9700s was an easy choice.

“We picked what we believe to be a quality product and we were excited to work with Volvo and get these excellent coaches to be the best they can be for our customers.”
