Safeway Coaches of Batley has taken delivery of three new Yutong models in the form of a single TC9 midi and two GT12 full-size examples, supplied by Pelican Bus and Coach.

All were painted at the factory in China prior to shipment, while the GT12 pair are the first delivered to a customer with a camera monitoring system in lieu of rear-view mirrors. Those coaches also have a green-trimmed interior scheme to match their livery.

Safeway Coaches has worked with Pelican since 2016 and a large contingent from the West Yorkshire operator travelled to Castleford to collect the new Yutong vehicles in early March.

Power in the TC9 is from a Cummins B6.7 engine developing 320bhp, while the GT12s each have a DAF MX-11 unit producing 450bhp. The ZF EcoLife automatic gearbox is fitted in each case and the coaches are set off by 25-plate cherished registration marks.
