Three Star Coaches of Luton has welcomed a second Volvo B8R with MCV Evotor body to its fleet. The new arrival follows an earlier example delivered earlier this year, with both vehicles being supplied by Volvo Bus UK and Ireland.
They are each 12.6m examples and finished in the operator’s distinctive blue livery. The B8Rs undertake a variety of work such as home-to-school, rail replacement and day trips and they mean that 14 of the 18 vehicles with Three Star Coaches are built on Volvo chassis.
Passenger capacity in the new coach is 53, with the seat specification including drop-down tables, magazine nets, footrests, and USB charging points.
Also fitted is a DAB digital radio as part of a wider entertainment system with twin monitors, a centre sunken toilet, and PSVAR compliance that uses a wheelchair lift and LED destination displays.
Speaking about the latest arrival, Three Star Coaches owner Colin Dudley says: “We continue to come back to Volvo because of the confidence they give us on the road.
“Our first Evotor quickly proved to be a fantastic addition to the fleet, with the eight-litre platform a perfect match for the wide variety of work we do. As a full-size coach, it also gives us genuine peace of mind to know we could send it onto the continent for longer trips if we needed to, without any worry.”
Mr Dudley adds that support received from the Volvo Truck and Bus Centre South and East dealership “is outstanding,” with that service making a notable difference to the Three Star Coaches operation. A well-developed Volvo network in Europe adds further confidence.
Both B8R Evotors have attracted favour from staff. “Our drivers love the Volvo product and are so excited about the new vehicle; there is intense competition for who will get to drive it,” he continues. “I think that says a lot about the performance, handling and ride quality of the Volvo and MCV combination.”
