TK Travel of Reading has purchased its first new vehicle from Volvo Bus (02476 210250): A B8R with 72-seat Sunsundegui SB3 bodywork.

Although it is TK’s first new Volvo, it joins four other coaches from the manufacturer already within the fleet. High capacity, manoeuvrability and good fuel consumption were the criteria to meet, says Director Katie Gripton.

“We’ll be using the B8R SB3 on local school contracts, so it needs to be reliable and hard-wearing. We also require Euro 6 to meet emissions standards going forward.”

She pays tribute to Retail Bus and Coach Sales Manager Jo Baker. “Jo was thorough in ensuring that the coach met our standard. We’re already talking to her about another purchase.”
