A Newcastle taxi driver who died when he collided with a Stagecoach bus on Newcastle’s Redheugh Bridge in May 2017 was double the drink-drive limit and had been using cocaine, an inquest has reported.
The bus driver, who was carrying around 10 passengers on his last job of the night, described seeing Mohammed Rahman’s Honda Accord “trying to overtake the car in front of him”.
However, Northumbria Police collision investigator PC Paul Beavis said there was no definitive evidence of this, and that Mr Rahman may have become “distracted”.
