Four Directors of Caernarfon based Express Motors (Penygroes) Ltd, and three of the company’s employees, have appeared before the town’s magistrates charged with conspiracy to commit fraud involving the concessionary reimbursement scheme.

The directors of the company which operates services in north west Wales, are Eric Wyn Jones, of Bontnewydd, Caernarfon; Ian Wyn Jones, of Penygroes, Caernarfon; Keith Jones, of Llanddaniel, Anglesey; and Kevin Wyn Jones, of Bontnewydd.

The employees are Michael Munson, of Llanllechid, Bangor, Rheiunallt Williams, of Deiniolen, near Caernarfon, and Aled Wyn Davies, of Rhosgadfan, near Caernarfon.

The charges allege that the seven men instructed others to increase the number of concessionary fare passes swiped; that they excessively swiped concessionary cards and that they submitted false claim forms to Gwynedd County Council for financial gain.

The magistrates ordered the defendants to appear at the town’s crown court on January 2.  All seven were granted unconditional bail.
