Converter GM Coachwork has supplied Hennock Community Primary School, in Newton Abbot, with a Minibus Lite for 12 months free of charge.
The school contacted GM asking for help with transport to give pupils access to facilities and the outdoors. Hennock works alongside larger schools serving children in areas of high deprivation, and it aims to provide pupils at smaller schools with the same opportunities.
“It is a pleasure to support a local school and to help towards increasing pupils’ chances in life by nurturing their personal, social and emotional development,” says GM Chief Executive David Vooght, who green-lighted the loan of the Minibus Lite.
Since arrival with the school, it has also helped nine other educational establishments by allowing children to partake in extracurricular activities.
Both Hemlock and some of these other schools otherwise have no access to transport, meaning that travel to sporting events and for educational trips would have to be funded by parents or the schools, putting pupils’ attendance at them in jeopardy.
GM’s Minibus Lite – which includes an accessible version – is built on the Peugeot Boxer and offers up to 17 seats. All can be driven on a car licence.
