Nottinghamshire County Council ordered nine Mellor Orion Pluses

Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) has returned to Mellor with an order for nine low-floor Orion Plus minibuses based on the Fiat Ducato chassis. They will join two existing Orion Pluses in NCC’s fleet.

“Mellor was awarded the business following a competitive tender process. It exceeded the price and technical specifications that we were looking for,” says NCC Fleet Operations Manager Andy Frogg.

“We operate 68 minibuses, 60 of which are from Mellor. We took the Orion Plus last year and we have been happy with their performance and fuel efficiency, so it’s great that Mellor came out on top in this latest tender round.

“It is also pleasing that the vehicles can be delivered earlier that originally anticipated.”

The new Orion Pluses will mostly be utilised for transport to day centres and on local bus services in the county. They have a dual configuration of 16 seats, or nine seats plus three wheelchair users.

In 2017 NCC also took delivery of two Mellor Strata LF low-floor minibuses based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis.
