Two years of research, design and testing has gone into new equipment

Unwin has updated its range of wheelchair tie-down and occupant restraint equipment following two years’ research, design and testing.

The whole range of retractors and webbing products has been given a new look and design. Unwin says that improvements have been made without adding weight or increasing the products’ space claims.

Developments include:

Dual-handed operation for tightening retractors, with only a 3mm overall width increase

Optimal webbing lengths for both tie downs and occupant restraints

Combined stalk and retractor on floor anchors fitting rear tie-downs to maximise floor space

Two stalk lengths to suit M1 and M2 vehicles

New design with updated webbing colours to blend in with the interior

Improved electric retractors with LED lighting as standard

Simple part numbering for ease of ordering.

Says Product Market Manager Martin Taylor: “We have brought a fresh new look to our range, with a lot of added benefits to make life easier for the user. Unwin created the world’s first devices to secure wheelchairs in vehicles and this refresh brings 60 years of experience to bear in creating a range of products that satisfies the needs of both our UK and our European customers.”
