A trip down memory lane after 36 years

A couple of weeks ago I received a call from one of our drivers who was on tour in Budapest.  The driver had unfortunately received news of a family emergency and was forced to fly back home straight away.

As I racked my brain to get this tour covered, I decided that as my father used to do regular tours in the ‘70s and ‘80s, I would ask him If he would help out, even though he gave up continental driving almost 20 years ago. His response was: “Let me watch the end of Tipping Point and I’ll get over to collect the tickets and itinerary”.

After arriving back, we received an abundance of complimentary letters and emails – mainly relating to my father’s guided tour of Budapest – and one email in particular caught my eye.

There happened to be a couple onboard the coach who had celebrated their honeymoon in Budapest with my father driving back in 1982 – they’d also managed to get a photo of my dad.

When I asked him how it went on his return, his response on was that he loved the tour and coach but would rather have done it in a Bedford.
