Ford Transit minibuses were front and centre for PHVC at Euro Bus Expo, including an accessible E-Transit 14-seater with a rear-mounted PLS cassette lift.
That vehicle is also available in 15-seat non-accessible format and the business reports “very good interest” in those zero-emission models. A range of between 166 and 196 miles is claimed and conversion is carried out by Gowrings Versa Mobility.
Community transport organisations, schools and care homes are seen by PHVC as potential buyers of the Ford E-Transit minibus.
Sales Director Wayne Toms adds that traction for battery-electric is strengthening, although he would like to see greater incentivisation from the government of its take-up in minibuses. Zero-emission vans have grant funding available, but minibuses do not. The E-Transit in van form is eligible for £5,000 support.
20 base E-Transits are on order for Q1 2025 by PHVC. The model has 68kWh of usable power and is compatible with DC fast charging or slower AC replenishment. PHVC advises that a 7kW charger is used where overnight replenishment is required. The supplier can put buyers in touch with Ford Pro, which will advise on charging options.
Up to two wheelchair users can be carried in accessible format, and GVW is 4,250kg.
Adjacent was a diesel Transit with a factory minibus conversion. It seats 17 and could be converted to accessible layout if required. The diesel model shown has an automatic gearbox and PHVC has that vehicle type available for immediate delivery, adds Mr Toms.
