Alfa Leisureplex Group has been honoured at the UK Employee Ownership Awards.
The Chorley-based company, which includes Alfa Travel and Alfa Coaches, received the Employee Owned Rising Star of the Year Award category. This celebrates a business that has been employee owned for less than three years with a strong culture of employee ownership.
Particular praise from the judges was focused on Alfa’s engagement with its employee owners. This included developing a network of 25 workforce representatives and a series of communications and engagement activities.
Since becoming employee-owned, it has grown to 700 employees across 28 UK sites and carried more than 110,000 passengers and provided 650,000 hotel nights in 2017.
Karen Sawbridge, Alfa Leisureplex Group’s Managing Director, say: “I cannot quite put into words the sense of pride I feel for all our amazing employee owners, each of whom really is a Rising Star.”
