An American in Paris is coming to London for the first time, arriving at the Dominion Theatre on 4 March.
Inspired by the 1951 Gershwin MGM movie starring Gene Kelly, the production was Broadway’s most awarded musical in 2015-2016.
It’s the story of Jerry Mulligan, an American GI trying to make it as a painter in a city suddenly bursting with hope and possibility. Following a chance encounter with a beautiful dancer named Lise, the streets of Paris become the backdrop to a sensuous, modern romance of art, friendship and love in the aftermath of war.
Leanne Cope and Robert Fairchild both make their West End debuts to reprise their original lead roles of Lise and Jerry.
Jane Asher also joins the cast as Madame Baurel, along with Haydn Oakley (Sunset Boulevard) as Henri Baurel; Zoë Rainey (Wicked) as Milo Davenport; David Seadon-Young (Ghost the Musical) as Adam Hochberg; and Ashley Day (The Book of Mormon) as the alternate Jerry.
George and Ira Gershwin’s timeless music and lyrics are brought to life, including the iconic songs ‘I Got Rhythm’, ‘S’Wonderful’ and ‘They Can’t Take That Away From Me’. Lavish sets depicting the streets of 1940s Paris will ensure it’s a visually stunning show.
