Asset Alliance Group funds BCT’s biogas buses

Asset Alliance Group (AAG) has funded a fleet of 21 biogas-fuelled Scania Alexander Dennis Enviro400s. They have entered service with HCT Group’s Bristol Community Transport (BCT) operation.

The buses have been provided on a long-term hire purchase contract. They each seat 70 and BCT has seen a 17% increase in passengers since their introduction to the Bristol Metrobus network.

Says HCT Group Chief Executive Dai Powell: “AAG has supported us for more than 20 years, and its advice is invaluable.

“It always provides us with carefully-negotiated, flexible and cost-effective funding. We knew that it would do the same for our new alternative fuel buses.”

Adds Michael Bycroft, Asset Alliance Group Managing Director, Bus and Coach and Asset Funding: “Clean Air Zones have brought the use of alternative fuels into sharp focus. People are also taking more of an interest in their personal environmental impact.”

In July, a £960,000 permanent biomethane filling station was opened at BCT’s depot in Bedminster. It has been provided and project managed by the Gas Bus Alliance and was supported by government funding.
