Ground transport management specialist CMAC Group has been bought by ComfortDelGro for £80.2 million. The Singaporean buyer says that the deal reinforces its strategy to expand point-to-point mobility services and offerings.
The purchase was completed by UK-based ComfortDelGro subsidiary CityFleet Networks. That business also operates taxis and private hire vehicles in Aberdeen, Chester, and on Merseyside.
In the UK and Ireland, ComfortDelGro additionally owns bus operators Adventure Travel and Metroline and coach operator Westbus, and has interests in the Megabus, Scottish Citylink and Irish Citylink scheduled coach networks.
Speaking about the purchase of CMAC Group, ComfortDelGro Managing Director and Group CEO Cheng Siak Kian says: “This acquisition is aligned with ComfortDelGro’s strategy to expand our point-to-point mobility services and offerings.
“As an established player in providing wide-ranging emergency passenger transport services to businesses, CMAC is complementary to our operations in the UK and Europe, allowing us to expand our business-to-business offerings in the region.
“In addition, as part of the wider ComfortDelGro group, CMAC will be able to tap into our deep market knowledge to grow its business and reach.”
Accrington-based CMAC has long been on a growth trajectory, as explained by the business to routeone in October 2023. Earlier last year, it acquired the Coach Hire Comparison business, which complemented an existing partnership with compliance specialist CheckedSafe.
Commenting on the sale of the business to ComfortDelGro, CMAC Group CEO Peter Slater says: “We are excited to be part of a growing global mobility group. At the same time, I am immensely proud of CMAC’s history and achievements, which would not have been possible without our strong team, valued clients, and trusted supply partner network.
“This move will allow CMAC to build on our strategy and grow alongside ComfortDelGro while continuing to deliver highly valued services to our customers and partners.”
