Coach holiday specialist Daish’s Holidays has recorded a 12% year-on-year rise in bookings for its winter and festive packages, which it says demonstrates buoyant demand for domestic tourism.
The Bournemouth-based business, which owns and operates a portfolio of seaside hotels across England and Wales, says reservations for its Turkey and Tinsel, Christmas and Twixmas (the period following Christmas and before New Year) packages in November and December have exceeded previous records. All properties in the group have been fully booked over the main Christmas period, prompting Daish’s to reopen the Barrowfield Hotel (pictured) in Newquay for the first time in three years.
Meanwhile, several hotels in the group reported double-digit increases in bookings. The Abbey Lawn Hotel in Torquay led growth with a 33% rise year-on-year, followed by the Esplanade Hotel in Scarborough, up 17%, and the Russell Hotel in Weymouth, with an increase of 15%.
Comments Paul Harper, Commercial Director at Daish’s: “Our winter and festive breaks have always been popular. We’re seeing people booking earlier, looking for the comfort, value, and social atmosphere that a Daish’s break provides. It’s clear that the appetite for a traditional British festive getaway is greater than ever.”
