Diamond Bus invests £600k in contactless

Rotala-owned Diamond Bus has invested £600,000 in Ticketer machines across its West Midlands and Worcestershire network. Going live on 23 April, it will become the first operator in the region to offer on-bus contactless payment
Tickets will be printed with unique QR codes, scanned when re-boarding the bus to help to “significantly to reduce fraudulent ticket use, a costly problem across the network.”
The new ticket machines are equipped with the latest in tracking and communications; live real time information will be reported back to depot traffic offices.
It will be able to report delays much more accurately to customers and liaise easily with drivers to identify and rectify problems much more quickly.
Says Diamond Bus: “We are progressing partnerships with Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) to report our RTI data to their roadside infrastructure and we hope in the near future to also be able to pass on real time information feeds directly to passengers through the use of our mobile app and website.”
Rotala CEO Simon Dunn says: “I am really pleased with the progress we are making in Diamond Bus.
“This investment of in excess of £600,000 in new ticket machines, with all the benefits that brings to both customers and the business, is a clear demonstration of our determination to further improve the service we deliver to our passengers.”
