Groups can find out all about the author on a guided tour of the Regency-style villa. Jessica Barton reports
Elizabeth Gaskell's House in Manchester held its group tour planner launch event on 26 February, organised by Steve Reed Tourism.
Former home of the author and her family, the house welcomes groups to find out more about Elizabeth and her husband William’s work, explore the lives of their daughters and servants and discover the Manchester that the Gaskells knew.
The event gave attendees the chance to find out what the house has to offer their groups, including guided tours of the house and garden, a tearoom and a shop.
Says House Manager Sally Jastrzebski-Lloyd: “It was great opportunity to showcase Elizabeth Gaskell’s House to a wide variety of travel trade organisers and we were thrilled with the feedback and responses from all who came.
“We look forward to introducing Elizabeth Gaskell and her Manchester home to many more groups in the future.”
Adds Steve Reed: “We were very pleased to be able to invite some top UK group buyers – operators and GTOS – to Elizabeth Gaskell’s House for the group unveiling. It was good to see that everyone who attended could see how their groups would enjoy a high-quality visit to the attraction.
“The delegates also commented upon how good and knowledgeable the guides were – certainly, they added very much to a highly memorable day. It has to be one of Manchester’s finest attractions.”
Coaches can drop-off outside the house and all floors are fully accessible with lifts.
Private and bespoke group tours of the house and garden are available for between 10-60 people (pre-booking is essential).
