National Express has announced the addition of 10,000 extra seats on its popular Southampton-London coach services to meet a surge in demand over the summer period.

The company reports a 39% rise in passenger numbers on its 032 service linking Southampton, Heathrow Airport and London Victoria since a revised timetable was introduced on 4 July.

It currently runs 14 departures per day on the corridor.

In addition to boosting capacity the company is also targeting family travellers with free travel for children. Until the end of September up to three children aged 15 and under can travel free with every fare-paying adult.

Helen Smyth, Commercial Director — Airports at National Express says:  “As the nation’s number one scheduled coach operator, we have the flexibility to add extra capacity on our busiest intercity and airport routes to meet demand. Our services are great value, you’re guaranteed a comfortable seat, and most importantly, reliable journeys that get you where you need to be. With demand high and tickets selling fast, we’re encouraging customers to book early to avoid disappointment.”
