Contactless payment for tickets has proved a hit with passengers travelling on East Yorkshire Motor Services (EYMS) and Scarborough & District buses.

Contactless payments for tickets is available across the EYMS network

A “surge” of customers wanting to use this hassle-free payment method has been reported since the contactless ticketing option was introduced across the network on 28 October following a £1m investment.

The ticketing improvements are part of Go North East’s investment in local services following its acquisition of EYMS in the summer, and a commercial review of the first two weeks of sales following the new system’s introduction showed an 80% rise in contactless transactions week-on-week.
