First has introduced an extended mirror arm replacement for all of UK Bus. All depots are now planning the replacement of nearside extended mirror arms on every bus, with a new, shorter door-mounted alternative.

The existing extended design, now being replaced

While the new arms will mean a change to the look of the vehicle, drivers should not notice any change with the arms when fitted and adjusted correctly, says First.

It is part of First’s drive to improve safety. Last year 14,000 collisions were recorded across First Bus, some of which resulted in injury, and cost “millions” in vehicle damage.
