The 1940s New Orleans jazz scene has arrived at the Marble Arch in this new musical. Michaela Peacock reviews it
The new production of Five Guys Named Moe is an immersive musical, which breaks the fourth wall at any given opportunity, having audiences laughing and cheering throughout.
The audience is transported back to 1940s New Orleans in the Marble Arch Theatre, a specifically designed pop-up faux jazz club.
Meet the Moes: Four-eyed Moe, Eat Moe, Little Moe, Know Moe and Big Moe. The jazz-singing fivesome emerge from the surrounding areas in the living room of boozy Nomax (Edward Baruwa), a down-and-out man moping about losing a girl and having no money.
Through song and dance the five guys named Moe try to teach him a thing or two about women, a life lesson and style tips – ultimately, how Nomax can get his girl back.
Audiences will be toe tapping, singing and doing the conga to the bar in this lively all singing, all dancing musical which brings the Marble Arch alive, with songs including jazz hits from Louis Jordan: ‘Early In The Morning’, ‘Is You Is or Is You Ain't My Baby’, ‘Choo Choo Ch'Boogie’ and ‘Saturday Night Fish Fry’.
Complete with a cocktail bar in the lobby, and a jazz band to see you to your seats, this will be a hit number for groups and is running until February 2018.
