Airport transfer specialist Flibco expects to agree a contract with a coach operator partner “soon” to deliver a new scheduled service between Stansted airport and central London that will begin on 1 April.
Commencement of that route will represent the debut of the Flibco brand in the UK. It already provides similar services in other nations in Europe, including some served by air from Stansted.
The Luxembourg-based business says that it sees “considerable potential for growth” in the UK although its initial efforts will focus on the London to Stansted corridor, a spokesperson adds.
Details of frequency and vehicle requirement will be announced in March, but Flibco believes that the route will “meet the needs of both local and international travellers.”
While Flibco says that it has been awarded a contract by the air travel hub “to manage the shuttle bus connection between London city and Stanstead airport,” National Express has confirmed that the move will have no effect on its services between those locations.
They saw accelerated journey times and improved frequency during mid-2024 along with demonstration of a battery-electric Yutong GTe14 coach.
Flibco describes its arrival in the UK as a significant milestone for the business. Says Country Manager Giuseppe Martino: “We are thrilled to collaborate with London Stansted airport, a partner that shares our dedication to innovation and excellence in airport connectivity.
“Its visionary approach to enhancing accessibility aligns seamlessly with our mission to deliver reliable and seamless transportation solutions.”
Although Stansted is currently the focus of Flibco’s efforts in the UK, it is “committed to expanding its presence in key markets, offering high-quality airport transportation solutions and building partnerships that benefit passengers and stakeholders alike.”
Flibco is part of family-owned Sales-Lentz Group, which is the largest private coach and bus operator in Luxembourg with over 650 vehicles. It employs more than 1,750 people across Belgium, Luxembourg and Italy.
