Icomera has earned the ITxPT label for its multimodal mobile internet connectivity platform for public transport vehicles.
The supplier says that its wi-fi solution is built around open architecture principles, allowing for interoperability between systems and devices. The VTC ICR-2, a router deployed in bus markets, has been declared ITxPT compliant, as has the X3. It is aimed at coach and bus applications.
ITxPT was formed in 2013 by IT suppliers, vehicle manufacturers and public transport operators and authorities in order to develop an IT infrastructure based on on agreed standards for digital communication onboard, over-the-air and with back office or cloud services.
ITxPT is increasingly becoming a requirement in public tenders, Icomera adds. It works as a strategic member on the ITxPT executive board.
Says Product Manager Jemima Woolverton: “We are very happy to be the first company in the world to offer a fully multimodal ITxPT solution, promoting public transport use by supporting better, simpler and safer travel for passengers.
“We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with ITxPT members to shape the IT standards of the future.”
