Latest generation from Iveco includes improved Tourys, a Daily Line and the all-new Daily Start offering
Iveco launched a new range of factory-converted minicoaches and minibuses at Busworld Kortrijk in October, and it has confirmed that all of them – including the new Daily Start – will come to the UK in 2018. All offer maximum capacities of 22 passengers.
They are based on the New Daily, and the flagship of the range is an improved version of the Tourys minicoach. Its interior and exterior have been improved for increased comfort and the seats are of a new design. Either a flat or sunken gangway is available.
The new Tourys is 7.50m long and it has a GVW of 6,500kg. The three-litre F1C engine developing 180bhp is fitted, and the eight-speed Hi-Matic automatic gearbox is now standard.
Unlike the outgoing Tourys, the new model has a panoramic windscreen. Iveco has handled it a little differently to other converters, using two pieces of glass. The upper section extends further into the roof line than in competitors.
What Iveco calls “atmospheric LED lighting” is fitted, while the builder says that luggage capacity will be best in class. On Tourys with drop boots, 2.5m3 of storage is provided.
Ready to Start
A newcomer is the Daily Start. It will be offered at three lengths (5.96m, 7.13m and 7.50m) and at GVWs of up to 6,100kg and it is targeted as an entry-level vehicle, says Iveco. In standard form, the Daily Start has a sliding side door, but options including an electric installation with a powered step are available, and air-conditioning can also be specified.
Iveco expects the Daily Start to appeal to shuttle and shorter-distance requirements, but accessible versions will also be available, according to Iveco’s literature. Up to 1.2m3 of rear luggage space is possible.
Notably, the smallest Daily Start takes Iveco into a new market segment. It can carry up to 16 passengers and it comes with space for one wheelchair user.
On the Line
Making up the three-strong line-up is the revised Daily Line. Introduced into the UK earlier in 2017, the Daily Line is a mid-range model available at three lengths. With three door styles (manual, electric or sliding) it is ideal for school or local transport, says Iveco.
The Daily Line also comes with an accessible option. It is built on a 5,600kg GVW base vehicle and boarding options include a lift or ramp for wheelchair users. Additionally, the Daily Line can be configured for bus work and Iveco says that destination display equipment and ticket machine mounting points can be fitted.
The new models will arrive in the UK in April.
