Audra McDonald will finally bring her Tony Award–winning portrayal of Billie Holiday in Lanie Robertson's musical play Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill to London's West End.
The play will have a 12-week run at Wyndham's Theatre starting 17 June.
The performances were postponed due to the arrival of Audra McDonald's baby last year.
Written by Lanie Robertson and directed by Lonny Price, the production opened on Broadway in 2014 to great acclaim.
Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill recounts Billie Holiday's life story through the songs that made her famous, including “God Bless the Child,” “What a Little Moonlight Can Do,” “Strange Fruit” and “Taint Nobody’s Biz-ness.”
Audra McDonald has a number of solo concerts in the US in the coming months and will perform four shows at Leicester Square Theatre in London in April with her husband Will Swenson and pianist Seth Rudetsky.
