The Jones Holidays brand will launch a day trips programme from May as part of North Wales operator Alpine Travel’s work to diversify its business. The move will represent a return to the day excursion market for the Jones brand after Jones Motor Service left the segment in 2017 following the acquisition of Jones Holidays by Alpine.
Alpine says it believes that “the time is right” for Jones to return to day trips. The work will be in addition to the Jones brand’s holiday programme, which has grown strongly in recent years. Alpine Travel Managing Director Chris Owens adds that the move has come following time spent reconsidering the operator’s product range while restrictions have been in place over the past year.
“Since we have been in lockdown, it has given us the time to reassess our product portfolio for our successful Jones Holidays brand, and also given us the opportunity to consider business development opportunities moving forwards.
“With so many in our local communities across North Wales having been told to stay at home for much of the last 12 months, we felt that as the vaccine rollout was bringing COVID-19 into check, now was the right time to launch this brand-new programme of day tours and excursions by coach.”
Mr Owens says that the Jones Holidays day excursion offering hopes to tap into strong demand as restrictions ease. “To offer day trips under the name of Jones Holidays is something that we have wanted to achieve for some time. We are very excited to be launching the programme for 2021 and beyond.”
