Lothian adopts new approach to staff safety

Lothian has made it easier for staff to report health and safety concerns by becoming the first bus company outside London to sign up to CIRAS – an independent confidential health and safety reporting service for transport operators in the UK.

Lothian’s Health, Safety and Procurement Manager Stuart Rollo with Susan Gray, Stakeholder Manager North CIRAS

The new partnership means Lothian employees can now contact CIRAS in confidence to raise any concerns they have regarding health and safety in the workplace. CIRAS will then have a responsibility to interview the reporter and pass the concern to the business for action.

Richard Hall, Managing Director at Lothian, says:“Safety is our number one priority at Lothian. Prevention of an injury or damage to our property is a benefit to everyone involved within our business and our partnership with CIRAS further complements our existing commitment to manage all of our operations safely.

“With CIRAS we are giving our staff an added option to report in confidence to an independent third party, ensuring we don’t miss out on any information that could be safety critical.”
