National Express will carry Glastonbury Festival attendees to and from 109 destinations this summer – 34 more than for last year’s event.
The scheduled operator is expecting to transport 20% more passengers this year for the event on 26-30 June.
National Express is the official coach travel partner of the festival and will set up a “pop-up” station within 100 metres of the entry and exit gates. Tickets start from ÂŁ31.50 in price and the operator says a limited number of seats remain.
John Boughton, National Express Commercial Director, says: “Demand for affordable and reliable public transport has never been greater, and that includes travel to the summer’s hottest festivals and events.
“We have over 25 years’ experience operating special services direct to Glastonbury Festival and with our extensive nationwide network of modern coaches, we’re able to step up and put on additional routes to help even more people choose us as the savvy way to travel to the festival. It’s also good for the environment as the least carbon-intensive public transport option.”
In addition to regional services, National Express will put on electric double-decker buses between Bristol Bus Station and the site at Worthy Farm. Last year was the first edition of the festival for which the operator offered such a zero-emissions service. On that occasion, more than 210,000 attended what is one of the world’s biggest music festivals.
