The revitalised National Holidays was joined by Shadow Minister for Tourism and Heritage Alex Sobel MP (pictured, right) as it welcomed its first customers back to Scarborough’s Grand Hotel on Monday 17 May.
Mr Sobel describes that date, from when coach trips were permitted to restart, as “a very important day.” He adds: “Group coach tours are an important part of the UK’s tourism industry, which plays a huge role in driving revenue into local economies and boosting employment. It was great to meet some of National Holidays’ customers and chat to them about what they plan to do and see while they are on holiday in Scarborough.”
The National Holidays brand was acquired by JG Travel Group – which includes Just Go! Holidays – in July 2020. National Holidays CEO Andy Freeth (pictured, left) joined Mr Sobel and the first tour to Scarborough. Mr Freeth describes the restart as “a big day for us.”
“We have missed having our customers on board as much as they have missed going on holiday, and it was wonderful to share in their excitement as they were finally able to get away,” he adds.
National Holidays says that “unprecedented demand for domestic breaks” has seen it introduce more departures to its programme for this summer. Adds Mr Freeth: “The majority of our tours across the country in the coming weeks are full, but we are adding extra holidays all the time. We are delighted to be back doing what we do best: Showcasing the incredible places to explore here in the UK.”
