The Department for Transport has approved a new bypass for Congleton and will provide £45m towards the £75m project, which will save drivers on average seven minutes per journey.

A 3.5km road will connect the A534 west of Congleton with the A536 to the north of the town.

The works will start in October and end in 2020.
