New hospital bus service to launch in York

First York has partnered with York Hospital to launch a new park-and-ride bus service directly to the hospital.

The new service – made possible thanks to funding from York Teaching Hospital Charity – will launch on Monday 29 April.

Running every 20 minutes, the new service will travel from Rawcliffe Bar Park and Ride from 0600-2010hrs, with reduced fares for NHS staff who have valid ID.

Marc Bichtemann, Managing Director of First York, says: “Congestion around York Hospital is a big challenge and so we’re very proud to be partnering with the hospital as this is a positive step towards changing travel habits.

“By working together, we can all make a real impact on congestion and air quality, as this is all part of a virtuous circle; more people travelling by bus means fewer cars on the road, less congestion and, in turn, improved air quality. We look forward to officially launching the bus service next month.”
