The new Chief Executive Officer at Reading Buses says it is an “exciting time” to be joining but with challenges to face.

Robert Williams, new Chief Executive Officer of  Reading Buses

Its recent acquisition of Newbury & District following its expansion into Windsor and Slough with Greenline and Thames Valley at the start of the year have been specifically highlighted by Robert Williams, who took over his responsibilities this month.

These developments have added to what is already “a very well respected, multi award-winning organisation”, says Robert, who is “absolutely delighted” to be joining Reading Buses from Stagecoach South West, where he was Commercial Director.

Moving from one of the big groups to one of the few remaining municipally owned companies will present its own set of key challenges, including some difficult financial ones, he acknowledges.

“Not least the cost of coping with congestion, but also the degree to which our local authority partners have funds to be able to assist,” says Robert, who was once a conductor for Reading Mainline.
