Stagecoach London Managing Director Paul Lynch (pictured) will serve a second year as President of the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) until January 2026.
Mr Lynch took up that role in January 2024. In 2025 he will be joined by Holmeswood Coaches Director Duncan Aspinall as Vice-President. Mr Aspinall, who previously chaired CPT’s Coach Commission, will then step up to become President in 2026.
Mr Lynch has a four-decade career in transport, having begun it with London Transport in 1984. He joined Stagecoach in 1994 and has held various senior roles both within the UK and during the group’s period of ownership of Swebus in Sweden.
Meanwhile, Mr Aspinall is responsible for over 100 coaches and buses and five depots at family-owned Holmeswood Coaches. It is a longstanding CPT member and both Mr Aspinall and his father have served as Chair of the North Western region on a number of occasions. Mr Aspinall is a member of the CPT board.
Commenting on the extension of his presidential term, Mr Lynch says: “I am honoured to be continuing as CPT President for 2025, representing and advancing our sector through a time of transformation and opportunity.
“I am glad to welcome somebody of Duncan’s experience onboard, and the two of us will continue helping members to get the most out of their membership.”
Adds Mr Aspinall: “I am delighted to step into the role of Vice-President and to work alongside Paul to deliver real value for CPT members. I have valued the opportunity to work with a wide range of members during my time on CPT’s Coach Commission and board, and I am looking forward to getting to know even more of them across the country during the next two years.”
CPT Chief Executive Graham Vidler is “extremely pleased” with the 2025 appointments. They offer “strong, experienced leadership as we tackle the challenges ahead,” he says.
“It is good news for our membership to have two such well-regarded figures from bus and coach respectively taking these positions up. Their insights will be invaluable in shaping a future where our industry remains both resilient and forward-thinking.”
