Robert Shaw has been appointed Chair of the Coach Tourism Association. He takes over from outgoing Chair John Wales, who has stepped down. Mr Shaw is Director of Coventry-based coach operator Harry Shaw. He was previously the Coach Tourism Association’s Vice Chair and Treasurer.
The Organisation has also announced that following a board meeting on 9 December, Emma Russell, Managing Director of Alfa Travel, and Lucy Osborne, UK Product Manager at Leger Holidays, have become board members.
Mr Shaw says that while the coach tourism industry is facing “very difficult times at present,” it can go into 2021 with hope. “The recent news of a vaccine is a great encouragement and I know our members are looking forward to running coach tours this winter and next spring, and are hoping for a summer season that is as normal as possible.
“I would also very much like to thank John Wales for his dynamic leadership during the last three years. They saw many new members join the Coach Tourism Association and take part in our popular events throughout the year.”
Mr Wales became Chair of the Association in 2018. He succeeded Denise Bridges, who held the position for three years.
