Scania is celebrating its 50th order from BASE Coach Sales of Lancashire. The chassis concerned is a Scania K-series 4×2 with MOBIpeople Explorer body.

Driving the coach is Scania’s 9-litre Euro VI engine. It can be specified at 320hp or 360hp and driven through ZF’s automatic gearbox or Scania’s Opticruise gearbox. The latest two orders from BASE are for the new generation Scania chassis.

The MOBIpeople Explorer body is able to carry up to 74 passengers in a 3+2 seating configuration and can be specified with wheelchair lifts and other carrying options.

“We are delighted to be celebrating this 50th chassis order from BASE Coach Sales,” says Sales Director – Bus and Coach for Scania (Great Britain) Martin West. “With the high carrying capacity MOBIpeople Explorer, BASE does an excellent job in serving a specialised niche within our sector.

“On behalf of Scania Bus and Coach I congratulate the BASE Coach Sales team on its achievements and look forward to continuing to work with them long into the future.”

Scania and BASE Coach Sales began their partnership on sales of the Explorer product in 2018. A total of 19 UK customers have since taken delivery of the high-capacity vehicle.

Nick Dodgson, General Manager at BASE Coach Sales, says: “The addition of having another quality European chassis option for our clients has been well received from launch at the National Exhibition Centre Birmingham. Scania’s strong client relationships and great after-sales support has impressed us and opened our product line to new niche sectors.”
