FlixBus has appointed Shamil Maindiratta as new UK Managing Director.
Ms Maindiratta joins the travel tech company after eight years at Amazon, where she was most recently Head of Enterprise Sales for Amazon Pay across the EU and US.
Andreas Schörling, who was UK Managing Director from 2019 until last year, was promoted last December to Vice President, Europe West, for parent company Flix.
Ms Maindiratta had worked on Amazon’s retail, advertising and digital payments products, and FlixBus notes she has a “strong background in sales and marketing” and experience in scaling commercial operations and growing businesses.
Celebrating its fifth birthday next month, FlixBus works with more than 20 partner operators and its network is set to grow to more than 100 destinations this spring.
Ms Maindiratta says: “FlixBus’s journey in the UK is nothing short of exceptional, and I am honoured to be taking the lead as we move into the next phase of hypergrowth.
“We will continue to build on the fantastic momentum already achieved alongside our trusted operator partners.”
The appointment coincides with two high-profile promotions for FlixBus managers.
Hayley Russell, Senior Team Lead for UK operations, will become Global Head of Service Delivery for Flix.
While remaining in the London office, she will work across the 45 countries in which the parent business operates.
Peter Fielding, Senior Operations Manager UK, has been promoted to the role of Operations Team Lead for FlixBus in the UK.
Ms Russell says: “Building the UK network from the ground up has been the highlight of my career, and I am beyond proud to see FlixBus as the household name it is today.
“Peter has shown extraordinary levels of commitment to the growth of the network. He will continue providing an outstanding experience for passengers across the UK.”
