Stagecoach has invested in two full-size mobile driving simulators that it says will act as new tools in enhancing training quality and safety.

The simulators are housed within converted Stagecoach buses and have been introduced at the operator’s training schools at Kilmarnock in West Scotland and Taff’s Well in South Wales.

The technology enables drivers to rehearse complicated road layouts, adverse weather conditions, and incident responses.

Stagecoach says the immersive approach allows trainers to tailor learning more effectively and track drivers’ progression.

Says Sharon Vye-Parminter, Group Health, Safety and Environment Director at Stagecoach: “This is an exciting step forward in using technology to enhance driver training and competency at Stagecoach. We’re looking forward to seeing the benefits they can deliver for our people and our customers. Stagecoach is committed to driving excellence, high standards, and investing in safety.”
